Beetroot juice as an aid to muscle endurance? Sounds like something from the realm of hippies and the very alternative. But see this www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23584049. That was a study on rats but humans have shown increases in endurance. The mechanism is by increased oxygen supply to muscles. This is not known to be a problem in TAM, but who knows? So I will give it a go and am interested to hear from anyone else.

Beetroot juice, Beetroot juice, Beetroot juice. Now I'm haunted by Micheal Keaton. But I'll give it a try, it will either help or I'll turn red. Side affect of beet root consumption is it turns your wee red. Not too panic and think it's blood. Could be an emarasing and fruitless visit to the Doctors.

Well, it is hard to know whether there has been any effect on my muscles. But there has been a very definite and welcome reduction in my blood pressure. Is this caused by 500ml/day of beetroot juice? There is one controversial study that would point to this. The test would be to stop the juice and see.

I don't think beetroot juice has any direct affect on TAM. The disease has only been progressing fairly slowly, unless I overexercise, but that has been the norm. Anyway, I'll keep it up because it qualifies as one of my daily vegetables and all the research says that we don't eat enough fruit and vegetables.
