I am about the same as before just doing the pain management thing. Taking creatine, carnatine, Q10,D3. My pain levels fluctuate can go from extreme to thinking I am going to die to OK I think I can live. Last check my CK levels were almost normal but that has not changed my pain levels any. I just wanted to say hello and that I appreciate everyone for being here thanks ET.

Great to hear from you. I think the pain issue is one we can all empathize with. I have been on Verapamil for a while now which is a two edged blade. The slight euphoria it gives tempts me to over-do things and suffer the consequences. But without trying to do stuff I shouldn't it just gives my brain the idea I could if I wanted. For me the is a whole lot better than before. Pain thresholds and management is as individual as fingerprints and sadly there is no one size fits all answer. On the up side there are many and varied forms of pain management so if what you are doing doesn't give the results you need try somthing else. From herbal and hypnosis to full on man-made drugs whatever works for you. I think most of our fellow sufferers will agree there are days when we would rather be in someone elses skin. Stamping on your ouchy bits doesn't have the desired affect so distraction is the other option. Little bits at a time work for me. A few moments of TV a womble a few yards in the garden (weather permiting) a little read. A small job or part of ( Took me six weeks to change the front brake pads of my truck and that was with help from a friend to do the "hard" bits like wheel nuts and lifting the wheels on and off.) But the sense of achivement is none the less as long as you don't get frustrated with yourself. I have started a herb garden as it takes little effort and yields great pleasure in watching something grow. As I say great to hear from you and I hope others will join with a penny thought or two. Some pain clinics here in the US are trying Guafenesin. This is also found in a over the counter called Musinex and several other decongestants. Here, the only product that is straight Guaf w/out other additives is the Musinex. I picked some up at Walmart just straight Guafenesin kind of expensive but it seems to help a little. It helps you breath and seems to boost energy.

I'd not heard of this product so gave it a look up and it is available here in UK in various forms as a cough syrup. Not sure of the percentage of Guafenesin in each without further study but useful to know it's there. Thanx for that ET. Be careful with that extra boost doesn't tempt you into doing to much. It is so tempting to those of us that like to do stuff. Just enjoy the feeling that you could if you wanted to.

Umm I usually get the 600 mg but here at Wal-mart you can get it in 200,400,600,or 1200mg. Some studies have used it to treat fibromyalga not sure about that spelling. I have to take things slow and take many breaks to rest if I over do something it can put me down for several days or maybe more. This new normal is hard to get used to. I am thankful that I can still function. I have a hard time with sleep only get a few hours here and there. I only take one 600mg Guafenesin a day I think that the fibromyalga study has those folks taking like 600mg three times a day. Just something to look into.
